Positive thoughts-Recipe for the New Year

Recipe for the New Year

Take 12 fine, full-grown months. See that these are free from all old memories of bitterness, rancor, hate and jealousy.

Cleanse them completely from every clinging spite and pick off all specks of pettiness and littleness. In short, see that these months are freed as much as possible from the past.

Cut these months into thirty or thirty-one equal parts.

This batch will keep for just one year.

Do not attempt to make up the whole batch at one time (you will spoil the entire lot if you do so). Prepare ONE DAY at a time as follows:

Into each day put. . . .

12 parts of faith,

11 parts of patience,

10 parts of courage,

9 parts of work,

8 parts of hope,

7 parts of fidelity,

6 parts of liberality,

5 parts of kindness,

4 parts of rest,

3 parts of prayer,

2 parts of meditation, and

1 part well-selected resolution.

Put in about a teaspoonful of good spirits, a dash of fun, a pinch of folly, a sprinkling of play, and a heaping cupful of good humor.

Pour into the whole, love, ad lib and mix with a vim.

Cook thoroughly in a fervent heat; garnish with a few smiles and a sprig of joy.

Serve with quietness, unselfishness, and cheerfulness.
